Do you ever wonder why so many people are fascinated by beekeeping? Although the all-too-obvious answer is honey, this hobby has a plethora of other benefits. Bees aren't just a swarm of flying insects that make liquid gold. This bug makes a substantial contribution to the ecological balance of our environment.

1 - Flowers are pollinated by bees.

Every flowering plant that produces a fruit or vegetable relies on pollination. Bees are the ones who do it for us, distributing pollen across billions of flowers on a daily basis. If our bees become extinct, too will the food that feeds humans and countless other species. How quickly we would perish if they failed to do their job, Beekeepers are supported by environmentalists. We need to know that bees will be able to survive in the face of climate change and global warming.

2 - Bees provide us with a wonderful opportunity to learn.

You must know how to deal with temperamental insects, beekeeping needs a broad study of the subject.

You might come across a bee who is having a bad day, and it will be your job to remain cool and do your mission. It may need a great deal of patience, understanding, and hard work. Your reward is the opportunity to witness occurrences that others may only imagine from afar. In order to keep the beekeeping legacy alive, it is an implied obligation to pass on what you have learnt to younger generations.

3 - Bees are good for our overall health.

While there have been no studies to back this up, many beekeepers say that their hobby have helped them relax and become more aware of their surroundings. The rest of the world melts away as their attention is drawn to the bees. They as such have stress-relieving benefits. In some countries they have facilities for people to breathe in the air inside beehives due to its believed health benefits.

Manuka honey is a delightful source of energy that also contains nutrients and antioxidants. Standard honey would suffice if you're seeking something tasty to spread on your toast in the morning. Manuka honey, on the other hand, may be worth the extra cost if you want a honey that is not only sweet but also has antiseptic and antibacterial characteristics. For thousands of years, honey has been used to cure infections in wounds. Honey may be useful in treating some bacterial illnesses that have developed resistant to certain antibiotics, according to new research.

Bee Pollen

The health advantages of bee pollen are numerous. Pollen has been found in studies to have the potential to cleanse the body of pollutants and medicines manufactured with pollen from bees can help you feel more energized.

Home Beekeeping

Home beekeeping is still a popular activity, and it appears that more people are getting into it these days, not just to create their own delicious honey that they can access whenever they want, but also for the pleasure and satisfaction it brings.

The main problem is that many think of beekeeping as a specialized job that requires substantial expertise to begin; nevertheless, this could not be further from the reality - it is actually rather simple. This is why I've prepared this article to show you how to begin beekeeping at home in just a few easy steps:

1.) Acquire the Necessary Equipment

Any beekeeper will require the tools of the trade in order to succeed and make life easier for themselves. Don't worry, it won't break the bank, and you can get the items for a reasonable price (just do a search on Google for bee keeping sites that sell this stuff - or use eBay for even cheaper goods).

To get started, you'll need the following  items:

  • A beehive
  • A beehive opening tool
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • A smoke box

The beehive is clearly vital to keep the bees in, but the opening tool can help pry open the hive more easily if necessary to get the honey and bees out (but this is not essential). To avoid enraging the bees too much, use the smoke box to quiet them down before opening the hive. Finally, to avoid stings, you'll need to wear protective gear.

2.) Get Your Bees Right Away!

To get started with amateur beekeeping, you'll obviously need some bees. Any beekeeper or reseller (just do another online search) can sell you bee colonies for a reasonable price, and this is the most convenient and common way to get your bees.

Many people have unwelcome bee nests in their gardens and would gladly pay you to remove them!

3 ways you can help rescue bees

Save the BEES MugsBees pollinate one-third of the food that we consume; without them, we would be extinct. You may contribute to the cause by taking these three simple actions.

1. Create a Bee Garden using plants that are beneficial to bees.

2. Fill a small dish halfway with clean water and set it aside as a Bee drinking bath. Make a swarming area with pebbles and stones for the bees to land on and drink from.

3. Provide a safe haven for natural bees such as bumblebees, who do not live in hives and are solitary creatures. Provide a bee hotel in a calm, undisturbed location for them to use as a hive for constructing a colony. You may purchase these online, or you can make your own!
