How To Build A Bumble Bee Nest
Leah
What is the best way to provide bumblebee nesting sites?
By providing a nesting spot for bumblebees, you can make their lives easier. Of course, the first step is to ensure that there is an abundance of the suitable flowers in bloom throughout the spring season.. When it comes to nest-hunting, the queen will go toward gardens that supply a lot of food to aid in the production of her first batch of eggs, which will be laid in the following month.
When the queen is ready to lay her eggs, she will begin looking for a suitable nesting location. She zig-zags low over the ground, pausing to look for holes in the ground or heaps of leaves that have fallen from the trees. The task of convincing bumblebees to build a nest in a given spot can be challenging; even specifically built nest boxes have had limited success. You can, however, build your own nesting site using the pattern provided below, should you choose to give it a shot.
Materials
Flowers in a pot with a diameter bigger than 20cm, slate or tile, and a length of tube or pipe are all required. Nesting material.
Instructions
Insert the upturned flower pot into the ground and cover any drainage holes with the slate or tile to keep out rain and other elements of nature.
Connect a hose or pipe to the pot underground, ensuring that the entry is clearly apparent. Make certain that the pipe contains drainage holes.
Finally, pack the nest with a big amount of nesting material, such as old mouse or guinea pig bedding, and let it sit overnight.

3 ways you can help rescue bees
Bees pollinate one-third of the food that we consume; without them, we would be extinct. You may contribute to the cause by taking these three simple actions.
1. Create a Bee Garden using plants that are beneficial to bees.
2. Fill a small dish halfway with clean water and set it aside as a Bee drinking bath. Make a swarming area with pebbles and stones for the bees to land on and drink from.
3. Provide a safe haven for natural bees such as bumblebees, who do not live in hives and are solitary creatures. Provide a bee hotel in a calm, undisturbed location for them to use as a hive for constructing a colony. You may purchase these online, or you can make your own!
